MAGA-lert: There is a Vice Presidential debate this Tuesday, 1 October at 8 PM Central Time on CBS.  I encourage everyone to watch, please.  But ask yourself why the participants are Walz/Vance instead of Harris/Pence?  Pence isn’t there because he’s the first VP in American history to disavow and refuse to endorse his running mate, Trump. Ask yourself why exactly is that?  Harris isn’t there because, unlike Trump, there are adult Presidents who know when it's time to relinquish power.

MAGA-lert: Trump’s creepy thoughts on women:  “You will no longer be abandoned, lonely or scared.   You will be protected and I will be your protector.  Women will be happy, healthy, confident and free.  You will no longer be thinking about abortion.”  Trump was convicted of sexually abusing and forcibly touching a woman and ordered to pay $5 miilion in damages, and credibly accused by 25 other women of the same behavior - or as the case Judge noted, Trump was convicted of rape.

MAGA-lert: Trump will declare victory before the results are in.

MAGA-lert: Trump’s sentencing is set for January 26 - he was convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to hide payments to an adult film star in order to keep her quiet. Yesterday we discovered Trump tried to silence her this summer from talking about the pair’s affair with a payment of $30K for a signed NDA.  Stormy declined, so nothing illegal thus far, but just what is Trump trying to hide? We know that essentially his every action is criminal, and his every word is a verifiable lie.

MAGA-lert: It’s inarguable that Trump is a maniacal  liar, he just starts lying, he doesn’t even wait, and when you’re the leader of a cult of MAGAts they let you do it.  You can lie about anything.  I won the 2020 election - I lie about everything.

Analogies aside, Trump shows arrogance and lack of respect for the American people by making easily contradicted false statements that rise to a new level above the general stereotype that all politicians lie. The degree of fabrication is simply breathtaking, egregious, and creates an extraordinarily dangerous situation for the country. Trump uses classic gaslighting in a systematic, sophisticated attempt as a political weapon;  he undermines trust and creates doubt and hatred of the media and all it reports; he owns his supporters and implants his own version of reality in their minds; he creates confusion so people are vulnerable, don't know what to do, and thus he gains more power over them;  he inflates his own popularity and makes people give up trying to discern the truth.

MAGA-lert:  Trump is waving a red flag in front of the country in these final 15 days before the presidential election saying, look how batshit crazy I can be. He's making a fool of you and he thinks you want to hear him talk about Arnold Palmer's penis as a metaphor for his virility. The only men who ever talk about the size of anyone's penis are the ones who are projecting some insecurity about their own.

More Trump insanity: immigrants are eating dogs and cats, children are coming home from school a different sex, “they” control the weather and sent two hurricanes to republican states, he’s the father of IVF, he’s the most brilliant person in the world and can fix any problem in minutes, January 6th was a peaceful “day of joy”, Democrats murder babies after birth (and then presumably eat them in pizza parlors), and his political opponents are “enemies from within” to be dealt with.

Trump insists he isn’t incoherent; he’s just misunderstood. “No, it’s genius what I’m doing up here, but nobody understands.”

MAGA-lert:  Lindsey Graham says of Trump:

December 2015: “He’s a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot.  He doesn’t represent my party, he doesn’t represent the values that the men and women who wear the uniform are fighting for.”

9 years ago Lindsey understood Trump’s character and what Trump thinks of our fathers.

MAGA-lert: MAGAts,  particularly Trump, are angry and violent people.  Trump’s gathering at Madison Square Garden was a closing orgy of grievances, misogyny, racism and release of rage, promising an agenda of vengeance and retribution against his domestic political enemies, real and imagined, and a vivid display of the white supremacist dark energy animating the MAGA movement.

MAGA-lert:  “As President I want to  protect the  women of our country … I’m gonna’ do it whether the women like it or not.”  Donald, can you protect women while denying them the essential and fundamental rights to control their own bodies? Donald, a 27th courageous woman has just accused you of sexual misconduct, can you protect women while continually assaulting them? Donald, Kamala is not controlled by pimps and she’s not a c-word.

MAGA-lert: There’s a new political ad reminding women that they DO NOT have to vote with their husbands.  Conservatives, especially the smallest and most fragile, and many evangelicals are pissing themselves because the wife is subservient to the husband and is not allowed her free will.  FOX’s Jesse Watters said - on air - that if his wife voted for Kamala it would be tantamount to her having an affair.  Repubs are so squishy about genitals, religion and control of women.

( 13 )  MAGA-lert: If you vote[d] for Trump then you have not been listening to him critically and will get not what you want but what you do not expect.

Trump is an 80 year old who is incapable of adult conduct across a range of behavioral and cognitive traits. He’s impulsive, grandiose, self-centered, attention seeking, unable to tell truth from fiction and emotionally fragile. He exhibits oppositional behavior, violates rules and norms and throws temper tantrums if confronted rather than taking responsibility for any of his transgressions. He has extensive knowledge deficits and is incapable of any sophisticated moral calculus, the only reason not to do something—even something that is likely to harm others—is to avoid punishment.  And since he has rarely been held accountable for any misdeeds, he has come to believe that he has a carte blanche to do whatever serves his immediate needs.

Frighteningly,  Trump does not care about facts or truth or even results. All that matters is that he appear strong, like a winner - the facts are rewritten on-the-fly to affirm his self-image. He deep-fakes himself as Time’s Man of the Year and hangs it on his wall. He sells Trump trading cards at $99 a pop to bolster his imagined superiority, a superhero with laser eyes one day, or king of the world the next, or any of his numerous other  imaginary disguises. There are hundreds of reports of infantile behavior witnessed from people who were trying to help Trump and promote his agenda; they are credible witnesses to his actions. The list includes Cabinet members, Oval Office advisers, Republican Party officials, military officers and more.

There is a smothering avalanche of repeated Trump absurdity while he held office. This pattern was not a part of the Trump presidency; it was the whole thing. There was nothing more. Every day, every issue, every presidential decision was driven by Trump’s puerile impulses. There was no executive leadership or attention to the national interest.

The only thing that interests Trump is Trump. We cannot afford to have a toddler in charge ever again. This must be a one-time mistake, an exception to the pattern of presidential selection begun more than two centuries ago. Above all, we must insist on competence, intelligence and maturity in electing leaders. That means abandoning partisanship, policy and apathy in order to act like adults.

Closing Thoughts One Day Before The 2024 Election

Here is a cursory recounting of recent Trump idiocy and madness; I hope in a few days I can stop writing about it.  But if Trump wins I'll be back, calling him out at all costs, even when he sends his MAGA-type stormtroopers to drag me to jail.

Certainly those descriptors have long characterized this LDSM: a lot of weird with complete disdain for religion and politics. Until 2016, that is.

When Trump came on the scene I watched and listened, I paid attention to his presidency for 20 months.  Only then did I become political, only then did I put my observations to paper.  It’s illustrative to re-visit what I wrote on October 24, 2018, the very first political commentary of my life:

“The country is in grave danger because, at its helm, is an amoral, evil, autocratic, lazy, arrogant, puerile man-child, who obstructs justice and is bigoted and racially intolerant, who demeans our Allies, women, POWs, his detractors and the handicapped, who gives comfort to our enemies, who says exactly want you want to hear regardless of truth, who is incapable of critical thinking and empathy, and who leads by hate and inciting violence.”

Trump is still the fiendishly vile Orange Thing I described six years ago. Orange because it's that color.  Thing, since it cannot be called human because it has no characteristics that a human mother would want her child to share, none.
